Robin's Oat milk & Oat and chocolate chip cookies

Robin won The Food Waste Doctor Wasteless recipe competition with his oat cookies made using the leftover oats from his homemade oat milk. Here's the recipes for both.

Oat Milk:

Time: 20mins

Makes: Just under a litre


100g Oats

4 cups of water (plus extra for soaking)

1tsp vanilla extract


  1. Soak oats in water for 15 minutes
  2. Drain and rinse

  3. Add oats, cups of water & vanilla together in a blender and blend until smooth

  4. Pour milk through a sieve into jug or bottle, keep pulp aside.



Time: 35mins

Makes: 12 cookies



180g plain flour

45g oats

50g brown sugar

50g caster sugar

1 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 egg (swap for 1 mashed banana for vegans)

5tbsp oat pulp

120ml milk (you can use your oat milk!)

85g chocolate chips (or raisins if you want to feel a little healthier!)


  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees
  2. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl
  3. In a separate bowl combine wet ingredients
  4. Slowly add wet to dry, mixing to combine
  5. Refrigerate for 30 mins
  6. Scoop into balls on to a baking tray
  7. Bake for 20 - 25 mins
